Just received this conversion lens. Like other reviews have said, you get what you pay for. But in this case, this isn't such a bad thing. If you want to have some fun experimenting with a wide angle, fisheye lens before purchasing a 600 to 900 dollar professional option, it's definitely worth it. Fisheye pictures are a bit of a novelty, and the whole fun factor might wear out over time. All the more reason to go with an inexpensive option.
1. I'm not entirely sure why this would matter but the lens is in fact made in China, not Japan.(Edit: I notified Amazon, and they have removed this detail from the product description. But take it from me, it's made in China.)With that being said, I received a solid, well made lens and the glass is crystal clear. I was impressed with the construction. The rubber grips work nicely, and the threads allow the lens to effortlessly and smoothly screw into your lens. It also comes with two adapter rings which allow it to fit anthing from 52 to 58mm. It fits my Canon 18 - 55mm kit lens with the largest of the two adapters. Without either of the two adapters, it fits nicely into my Canon prime f/1.8 50mm lens. It also comes with a mostly worthless cleaning cloth and a small, felt-like pouch to store the lens in when not in use. The pouch was a nice touch.
2. The lens is fairly heavy. While this might feel good when you hold it, I kind of wonder if the weight might affect the "gears" inside my kit lens while the camera is auto-focusing. I can't help but feel like it might add significant strain. Doesn't seem to be an issue so far, but may be worth mentioning. The weight does seem to slow down the auto-focus on my 18-55mm kit lens just slightly... though not enough to really be concerned. I suppose I'll have to see any effects from long term use, but I imagine my Canon lenses are built well enough to handle the extra weight.
3. Nowhere on the lens or box does it say Canon, or for Canon, or XS, XT, XSi, 30D, etc...
With that being said, this lens should fit any camera as long as the lens is between 50mm to 58mm. It should also fit video cameras. It's just a general SLR conversion lens that should fit most lenses with the help of the adapter rings.
4. I don't really understand all of the fuss about the HD aspect of it. If you hold the lens to your eye and look through it like a looking glass, it is remarkably bright and clear and indeed "HD". Otherwise, on the camera it looks just fine. Nothing to rave about.
5. As previous reviews mentioned, when zoomed all the way out you get the full "round" fisheye look. You can see the edge of the lens, but it's a nice effect and fun to use. Zoom in a bit and you get a nice wide angle shot. The edges do appear to fuzz a bit, but I don't see this as a huge issue since it is an inexpensive lens, after all.
All in all, I really look forward to using it more. No regrets with the purchase. Photography is an expensive hobby, and I'm happy there are inexpensive options out there for people who are just looking to try out some different shots.

Caselogic SLRC-202 Medium SLR Camera Bag (Black) Review

A nicely thought out hammock system suspends your camera, lens down, in a well protected sling, inside a nicely foam insulated case with a waterproofed bottom. Security with easy access at last.
Finding the right case to carry a bigger-than-your-pocket camera around in (along with its accessories) has been a bit of an issue for enthusiasts for many years. Most of the cases used, even those designed by and marketed by the camera manufacturers themselves, were awkwardly configured. Most required that the camera be placed, lens facing outward, into a case `molded' to that camera's specifications.
Some were well padded and others not. Most left the lens sticking out in the most vulnerable position of being bumped into something - possibly damaging what is, arguably, the cameras most sensitive, precise and important element - its lens.
Cases tended, thus, to be either too stiff, too heavily padded and bulky or simply too difficult to quickly get the camera out for that once-in-a-lifetime shot every photographer has seen and missed. Consequently, many shutterbugs (both amateur and professional) have taken to carrying their cameras uncased, held around their neck by the old reliable strap.
Thanks to the good technical imagination, innovation and skill of the folks at Case-Logic, there is a new and lovely alternative to the imperfect case and the all-too-vulnerable open exposure of the camera and lens. This is the SLRC-202 SLR Camera Bag.
The hammock, which crosses over the top of the opened bag and attaches to the opposite side with a heavy-duty Velcro strip. This allows the camera to be placed into the case lens down with the body of the camera immediately accessible to your hand while the lens is held securely in a suspended position below the hammock. The camera lifts out easily with a single motion. My own Canon EOS Rebel XS1, for which I use a variety of EF and EF-S lenses, is held perfectly with plenty of room for even longer lenses to spare.
In addition to the two medium-size pockets (each 6 X 4 X 3.5 inches) along the narrow sides of this bag that are plenty large enough to hold extra lenses or other accessories, there are also slender zippered compartments on the front and back for extra memory cards, batteries, etc.
Not to be taken for granted, is the waterproof (and self-standing flat EVA bottom. Finding a safe place to put your camera and case down, especially out of doors in wet conditions, is yet another bug-a-boo for many photographers and Case-Logic has taken this into account as well.
With all of these features, including an effective memory-foam interior on the inner side of the top to give additional protection to the LCD screen of your camera, the Case-Logic SLRC-202 bag is surprisingly compact and light. Made of nylon and EVA, it weighs in at one pound even and measures only 9.5 X 5 X 12 inches externally and 7.5 X 4.3 X 5.5 inched internally.
It comes with a padded, removable, shoulder strap and is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for 25 years.
For the photographer who has tired of trying too many cases that were never just right and whose neck is a tad worn from carrying a fully loaded and long-lens camera around his/her neck, this Case-Logis SLRC-202 is something we have been waiting for.

Canon EOS 60D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD (Body Only) Review

Canon EOS 60D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD (Body Only)

Simply put: Chances are good that your expectations and what you are looking for will determine whether or not you like this camera.
The newest addition to Canon's XXD line might initially seem like a minor downgrade to the previous XXD cameras, but several new capabilities actually help make this a nice, well-featured camera that will appeal to many people who don't get caught up in whether or not this is a better camera than it's predecessor. Canon certainly made this camera for the price point and was careful to add just enough features to make it desirable over the T2i, but not desirable enough to compete with the 7D. In some respects though, it seems like a beefed-up version of the Rebel line (a "Super-Rebel") instead of a new addition to the XXD line.
As someone who has now had the opportunity to use all three of Canon's mid-range lineup (the T2i, 60D, and 7D), I have to say that I really like the feel of the 60D. Even though it no longer has the magnesium alloy body, it feels solid. In no way does it feel cheap. I have fairly small hands and the 60D feels like it was made for me. It's significantly lighter than the 7D and feels like it would be much more friendly on long hikes. The 7D feels much more robust; however, the 60D feels much more "comfy". It is definitely bigger in size than the T2i, but the angles and design of the camera have a nicely updated feel to them that makes it seem like you are getting a much more substantial camera. The articulating screen was also done very well. My initial worries that the screen would feel cheap and break easily were immediately relieved after using it. The hinges are very solid and feel almost stiff to the point where you are comfortable with it staying right where you want it. It also is very flush with the rest of the body and offers little space in between.
Aside from the feel, the camera takes beautiful pictures. Quality-wise, there is very little difference between the pictures that come out of the T2i, 60D, and 7D. ISO performance is very similar and therefore can not be much of a deciding factor between the models. Most of the decision factors really will focus on which user interface and camera system best appeals to your type and level of photography. Each of Canon's mid-range models has it's own pros and cons, and while there are MANY differences between each camera, these are the main points I considered when deciding between cameras to purchase (hopefully it helps those going through the same decision I did):

60D vs. 50D:
(+) New Sensor - the same 18MP sensor that the 7D and T2i have, better ISO coverage/performance
(+) 63 zone dual-layer metering
(+) Better viewfinder - 96% coverage vs 95% coverage
(+) Video
(+) Articulating screen
(+) Wireless flash control
(+) Horizontal electronic level
(+) In camera processing (new RAW processing feature and in camera filter effects)
(+) Control over max auto-ISO
(+) Eye-Fi wifi file transfer functions(-) The magnesium alloy body of the 50D has been replaced with a polycarbonate body
(-) 6.3 fps shooting is down to 5.3 fps
(-) No lens microadjustment in 60D(+/-) Compact flash card slot has been changed to a SD card slot
(+/-) Joystick replaced by directional pad60D vs. T2i
(+) 9 all cross-type AF points vs T2i's 9 points w/ 1 center cross-type
(+) 96%, .95 magnification pentaprism viewfinder vs T2i's 95%, .87 magnification pentamirror viewfinder
(+) Articulating screen
(+) Wireless flash control
(+) Horizontal electronic level
(+) In camera processing (new RAW processing feature and in camera filter effects)
(+) Top LCD screen
(+) 5.3 fps vs 3.7 fps
(+) Built in adjustable audio level capability in video60D vs. 7D
(+) Articulating screen
(+) In camera processing (new RAW processing feature and in camera filter effects)
(+) Control over max auto-ISO
(+) Eye-Fi wifi file transfer functions
(+) Built in adjustable audio level capability in video

(-) 9 all cross-type AF points vs 7D's 19 all cross-type points
(-) Less AF features (such as Zone AF and Point Expansion)
(-) Polycarbonate body vs 7D's magnesium alloy
(-) 96%, .95 magnification pentaprism viewfinder vs 7D's 100%, 1.0x magnification pentaprism viewfinder
(-) Transmissive LCD screen on focus screen on 7D
(-) Only horizontal electronic level vs both horizontal and vertical level on 7D
(-) 5.3 fps vs 7D's 8 fps
(-) No lens microadjustment in 60D
(-) Shutter life of 100,000 vs 7D's 150,000
(-) Dual DIGIC 4 processors in 7D
(-) 3 custom settings in 7D; 1 custom settings in 60D
(-) No PC Sync in 60DBy comparing these features, it's easy to see that the 60D fits well in the price point directly between the T2i and 7D, but of course, a large segment of previous 40D and 50D owners hoping for a true successor that isn't watered down to a certain price point will still undoubtedly be disappointed. It's easy to see in comparing the 60D to the 7D and also to Nikon's newest offerings that Canon chose to limit functionality merely so that 60D sales didn't interfere with the 7D. In fact, if you are not completely entrenched in the Canon camp, I would also suggest looking at the new Nikon D7000. It looks like a spectacular camera for not much more than the 60D. I have not used it nor will I, so I can't comment on whether it's a better choice or not.
Even so, the quality of the 60D and new functionality offer enough new aspects that many customers will surely be happy with it. The articulating screen offers a way to attain tough shots that would have previously demanded extra equipment or odd contortions to reach. It also gives a great new avenue for video capture. Eye-fi wireless transfers work well and help out on those lazy days where you just want to set your camera down and have the work of transferring photos be done for you. Much of the in camera post-production comes off as being a little "gimmicky" to me, but having the option to add effects and process photos definitely doesn't detract from the camera. And many people who don't do much of their own post-processing after transfer to a computer will probably find the in camera RAW conversion and creative effects to be a nice addition.
To me, it really came down to one major factor though: autofocus. I tend to do a lot of shooting involving fast moving subjects, so autofocus for my photography is key. The T1i and T2i were disappointing in this respect. 9 points with one cross-type in the T1i/T2i is respectable, but I found that I really could only rely on using the center point in AI servo mode to get many speedy subjects in focus. I purchased a 7D later, and was blown away by the accuracy. The options of using extra points for expansion, using autofocus zones, having 19 full cross-type points, superior subject tracking, and even the option for narrowing the points in spot autofocus really opened up new areas of photography for me. I get about 10x the amount of usable shots than I would with the T1i and T2i. The 60D isn't THAT good, but it is still much better than the T1i/T2i. In fact, just like with almost everything else about the camera, it's just about right in between the T2i and 7D. Autofocus is fast and accurate, but there are still moments where subjects just move too fast and unfortunately, the 60D doesn't have the capabilities of the 7D. If you are deciding between the 7D and 60D, this is the area you should really look at, because this is the real difference between the 2 cameras. I chose the 7D, and then decided to give the 60D a try just to see if I made the right decision. I am happy with my 7D, but the 60D was no slouch.
In my honest opinion, I think this is a huge sticking point for 40D and 50D owners though. The autofocus system needed to be updated from the previous 2 XXD editions. It has the same 9 cross-type points as the 40D and 50D did before it, and same functionality. To be a good upgrade for previous XXD users, it didn't have to be as good or better than the 7D, but it would have been nice for it to be better than the previous 2 models. Removing the magnesium alloy body and lens microadjustment really comes across as a slap in the face to some users who valued those aspects. I have to say that the body is much lighter, doesn't feel significantly less sturdy (even though it probably is less sturdy), and I've never needed to use lens microadjustment though, so I'm not overly upset about those aspects. I am not thrilled about the "non-update" of the autofocus system though.
Now that I have handled and used all 3 cameras currently in Canon's mid-range lineup, I can definitively say that they are all stellar cameras, but just made for different segments of the market. The T2i is an amazing starter camera and takes great photos for those who want to save a little extra money by going without some of the features they might not use. It might be the best budget option for those who don't take many action shots. For an extra few hundred dollars, the 60D adds some intriguing new features and seems to be aimed at the people who want a slightly higher-end camera than the T2i, but aren't ready to shell out the money for the 7D. It's a great compromise, and to me, the main thing you are missing out on is superior autofocus capabilities. The 7D is more aimed towards the pro-sumer market who want/need a faster autofocus and overall faster, more rugged camera. It's hard to go wrong with any of them, but the 60D offers a great blend of features from both the T2i and 7D along with new...Read more›

My camera is a Nikon D40 and I love it. It has immense capability that I've never even tried. It took me a few minutes after reading the pages in the Nikon manual about shooting mode settings to find the shutter release information and the correct screen on the Nikon to set it up properly. After setting the shutter release on the camera, all I had to do was point the remote at the infra-red receiver on the left side of the lens (facing the camera) and push the button on the remote. It works flawlessly. I even tried it with me standing a little to the side so I was not in the picture, and it still worked as long as the signal reached the receiver on the camera. Impressive!
The remote is very lightweight and smaller than I expected - only 2 1/8" by 1 1/8". It comes with a very nice velvet pouch with a drawstring, making it easy to carry in a pocket or in a camera bag.
I was honestly shocked that the remote was so simple to use and am now quite excited that I have it. My Nikon is now getting even more use than before and my photography skills are advancing. I highly recommend adding the remote to anyone with a Nikon D40.

Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for Canon 20D, 30D, 40D and 50D Digital SLR Cameras (Retail Package)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had a vertical grip on every camera I've owned since around 1994. They've become a necessary part of my cameras, and it's ALWAYS the first accessory I purchase with a new body.
A lot has already been mentioned, so I'll just gloss over the normal talking points:
It's a sturdy grip for me. I don't have any flex issues whatsoever. Having two batteries in the grip allows over 1000 shots before a recharge is necessary. When I go on trips, I always bring a battery charger with me, but I have literally NEVER needed to take it out of the suitcase, no matter how much shooting I do.
Additionally, the grip includes a AA battery tray that will allow you to use AA batteries in lieu of the BP-511's. However, this is an "Emergency Use Only" type of accessory, as your battery life will be significantly reduced. I carry it in my bag in the VERY unlikely event that I manage to drain both of my BP-511's. You can find AA's anywhere in a pinch.
The grip is a real benefit to those like me that have big hands, since all of your fingers can now rest against the camera instead of curling up underneath. It's also a great counterweight when shooting with heavy lenses such as the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L. The arrangement of the vertical shutter release and related buttons on the side makes for very comfortable vertical shooting.
Okay, so it's a 5-star grip! Here's the only reason I took off one star:
The Canon EOS 40D and 50D have another button behind the shutter release, in addition to the two that are there on the 20D and 30D. The AF-ON button is located to the left of the '*' button. Those of us that do a lot of high speed continuous shooting often like to use the AF-ON button to activate autofocus instead of the shutter-half-press method.
Unfortunately, this grip does not include an AF-ON button on the vertical side. It only has the '*' and the AF point select buttons. So as it stands, if you have the AF-ON button set to activate autofocus, there's no way to autofocus when you're holding the camera vertically, unless you ignore the vertical grip buttons and reach your hand over as if the grip was never there.
There is a workaround, where you can set '*' to be the AF activation button. Since the grip has the '*' button on the vertical side, no problems. But then when you're reviewing images on the LCD, pressing '*' (normally zoom out, a feature you probably use all the time) will actually blank out the LCD and force you to re-enter review mode. AF-ON takes the zoom out functionality now, but it's really hard to retrain someone who has used '*' to zoom out on every DSLR they've owned since 2003. And I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that FEL functionality is gone once you swap the buttons in this manner. It's CERTAINLY gone when shooting vertically. Not sure about horizontally though.
Again, note that this problem ONLY applies to the 40D and 50D. Since the 20D and 30D do not have an AF-ON button, this is a non-issue for owners of those cameras.
Long story short, the grip needs an AF-ON button badly. But everything else about it is great.

This small camera is really good. Photo quality are excellent.
from ISO 100 to ISO 3200.
The guide mode is very good to set the camera to a particular situation.
The camera feels very solid. The autofocus 11 points is fast with the ViewFinder
You feels like a pro.
The results are superior than the D5000 or D90 at 1600ISO and 3200 ISO
The video mode is light. It is not a camcorder. But the video is good.
The sound is mono but I knew that. I didn't buy it for the video mode.
I already have a CANON HFS21 which is better than any DSLR.
The price is reasonable. you can buy the D3100 , 18-55, 55-300mm , 35mmf1.8, SB700 for
the same price than a D7000 ( which is not superior to the D3100 up to 1600 ISO. it is maybe
a bit better at 3200 and better at 6400 but not that far).
I highly recommend it.

I have been looking to purchase a camera backpack for my SLRs, lenses, and other accessories, and I had narrowed it down to the Canon 200EG backpack. I loved the compact size to the bag, but the large area inside for about two bodies (a must) as well as excess room for lenses. I tried the bag out at Best Buy, and I was about ready to purchase it on Amazon, until this bag came up as a recommended choice. It looks identical to the Canon, but without the giant 'steal me' Canon logo. Reviews for this bag backed up my choice, so I figured I would try this baby out, and if I din't like it, just return it for the Canon.
Little did I know, this bag exceeded my expectations with features much better than the 200EG. For one, the extra padding on the shoulder straps. You also get a belt strap to support your back with heavy gear. I'm about 5'3" and the bag fits snug and comfortably.
The exterior is made of a durable material, which should hold up against rain. The interior is padded very nicely to secure your gear in the bumpiest of my bike rides, which is nice. The zippers are sturdy, although I wish they were easier to put a lock onto. Lets talk about what this bad boy can hold. I am able to fit my DSLR Canon Rebel XTi (w/ battery grip) in the main slot, my film Rebel 2000 infront of the XTi, my PowerShot P&S, my MiniDV camcorder, 75-300mm telephoto lens, 28-80mm walk-around lens, and 18-55mm kit lens, with room to spare! In the meantime, I keep my chargers, minidv tapes, and remotes in the open spot. That is until I invest in a flash unit. If you pack everything right, you can easily pack three SLR bodies, three lenses, a P&S, and other gear in the bag. The top mounted pockets is home to my filters, memory cards, cables, and cloths. The side of the bag can hold a tripod safe and securely. You can also find spots for a phone, or even fit a small notebook pc (more likely a netbook) in the main pocket. Which is nice considering there is no laptop slot.
All in all, this bag is highly recommended in my opinion. Keep it in mind in your searches, and don't click away because it is Amazon branded. It's higher quality than my old Lowepro!

GE X5 Power Pro Series 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 15X Optical Zoom Review

GE X5 Power Pro Series 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 15X Optical Zoom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me begin my saying that I have not purchased a new camera in six years, so I was waaaayyyy behind in technology (I had never purchased an SD card until now, etc.). I had read so much about the user manual to this camera being hard to read, the camera functions being hard to access and use, etc., but, I must say, I found this camera easy to use and the functions were well-explained and documented in the user manual (for Pete's sake, they show the pics and give step-by-step instructions in the manual :-)).
I ordered this camera from Amazon last Friday; it arrived today. We are using it to take on a cruise with us and I wanted something with a decent zoom to be able to take pictures at somewhat of a distance. I also needed to practice using it, so I took it out of the box right away. I looked at the user manual and went to work :-D. I also used the user manual on the enclosed CD. No problem!
Like another poster said, I, too, researched this camera a lot before buying it and I, too, found it comparable to a couple of the Fuji Finepix that I was looking at. I am in no way an expert on cameras (I don't know much about them at all), but, I did go try this one out at Sears prior to purchasing this one from Amazon (Amazon was cheaper). While there, I noticed that they also had the Fuji I was thinking about getting, too, and I tried it. I really do like the way the GE X5 feels in my hands better than the Fuji! And, with my not needing the camera for professional purposes, I just wanted to be able to take decent pics. And, the GE camera seems to be able to do that!
I am soooo excited about this camera. The pics are so clear and sharp! I am having to learn how to focus it, etc., but, so far I have gotten some good clear shots.
I wanted to address some common comments that I have seen about this camera, both on Amazon and other other sites that sell this camera:
1. Using Manual to Get Clearer Pics of People Up Close - Previous reviewers were saying that their pics of people up close were blurry. Other reviewers suggested to take the pics in Manual as opposed to Automatic. I don't necessarily agree with this. In fact, with my not knowing what I was doing :-), I took blurry pics in both Manual and Auto, but I took more blurry pics in Manual. What did, in fact, help me to not blur the pictures was to follow the instructions in clicking the button to take the pics. If you read the manual, it tells you to push the button half-way down to focus the pic. Once you do, you will hear a tone (unless you disable the sound feature, I guess). Once you hear the tone, press the button the rest of the way down until you hear a shutter click sound, which lets you know that the pic has been taken. Pressing it all the way down too soon caused my pics to be blurry.
2. Picture Quality is Poor - People have said that the pic quality is poor. I do not agree with that. But, what I did see (and, again, I have lived in the dark ages regarding technology for so long until it might be this way with many digital cameras that I don't know about), though, is that the pic as it appears on the LCD screen is VERY GRAINY. This is true when the pic is being taken. However, if you go back and review the pics, you will see that they are not grainy (if taken correctly).
3. This Camera is Not for Beginners/It is an Advanced Beginner Camera - As I stated earlier, I don't agree with that. Now, let me say that there are features that I do not know how to use on this camera and may never know how to use because I may never have a need to use them. But, you don't have to use the "advanced" features in order to be able to use this camera. I'm a living witness :-D.
I am glad that I purchased this camera on Amazon, even though it went up $10 in my cart on literally the day I had it in the basket :-). Overall (so far), I am quite pleased with this camera.
Oh, one more thing: At the time of my writing this, if you look at the What's in the Box? section, you will see that it lists 4 AA alkaline batteries are included with this camera. But, if you look at the Product Description portion, you will see that it lists 4 rechargeable AA batteries. I received the alkalines. The alkalines are doing well so far, but I will buy some rechargeables to take on the cruise with me. I have reported this discrepancy on the page to Amazon customer service and they may be fixing it soon.
UPDATE ON DECEMBER 17, 2010:I wrote a very positive review of this camera, but I am now seeing many negative reviews. When I bought my camera, it was sold and shipped directly from Amazon. Now I see that it is coming directly from Capital. I don't know if there would be a difference in the camera or not; shouldn't be. My camera did not ship from Capital and I have had no problems with it. I am adding this to my review because I don't want people to think that I am endorsing a camera that may not be of good quality.

Digital Concepts TR-60N Camera Tripod with Carrying Case Review

Digital Concepts TR-60N Camera Tripod with Carrying Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Overall, this is a decent bargain tripod. The legs appear to be aluminum, and most of the rest of the unit is plastic or PVC. It has a quick-release head for attaching your camera but it only comes with one quick-release attachment, which sort of reduces the utility of it, although I'm sure you can buy more somewhere.
The BAD news is that this unit is cheap, light and flimsy. The GOOD news is that it is that it is cheap and light! For the price, I would call it an excellent value, especially for someone who needs to carry it around with them since it is so light weight.
Many ultra-light tripods feature a hook on the bottom of the centerpost that allows you to tie a bag of rocks or dirt or whatever to weigh down the tripod for steadier shooting. Although the picture of this item shows such a hook, my unit did not come with one. Fortunately you can always tie a weight on with string if you need to.
If you have a slightly higher budget I would recommend looking at the various tripods by Sunpak first. And if you can afford them I would also look at Slik brand tripods as well.

With this lens you can really feel like you are almost next to your subject. I can't wait to get some shots at the next full moon. For the price, it is a great lens. The bokeh on this lens is nice, with a shallow DOF. That said, there are some shortcomings, but I would expect that from a telephoto zoom lens like this. First, the auto-focus will hunt in low light. I really don't think I'm going to be using the 300mm end of the lens in low light anyway. I noticed that the lens didn't seem to focus well if you had multiple focus points selected. Pick one of your focus points and use it. Remember that this lens, while light-weight is not one that you want to use hand-held at 300mm unless you can get a very short shutter speed. I noticed more than a few shots had problems with camera shake using longer shutter speeds.

I got the D90 and installed the strap using my own logic. It seemed okay but then I saw it begin to slip and was horrified that such an expensive product had such an insecure strap. THEN I read the instructions and followed the Diagram (pg.17 in D-90 User Manual). They were simple--about 3 minutes per side. Now you couldn't make the strap slip without breaking off the camera mounts!! Pays to follow the instructions. Very Safe now.

Digital Concepts 1 2 4 10 Close-Up Macro Filter Set with Pouch (58mm) Review

Digital Concepts 1 2 4 10 Close-Up Macro Filter Set with Pouch (58mm)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I see that in the negative ratings here the people simply misunderstood what these are for. They are to move your camera in CLOSER to the subject and simulate a macro lens. What they do is essentially act as a magnifying glass. And like one, you need to move it in and out till you find the appropriate distance for it to work properly. This is not a tele-converter.
I find they work quite well. I have had macro lenses in which the subject takes up the sensor, a 1:1 ratio. These however allow for the subject to assault the sensor. Instead of life size these make for race of super giant monster sized. Ultra macro can be achieved with the small expenditure of fifteen bucks.
I find there is no outstanding vignetting or aberrations. At the highest magnifications there is an extremely shallow depth of field, so be sure you are prepared to work with that if you plan on working in those types of magnification.
Overall a great product, and with macro lenses starting at $500, I encourage you to sacrifice just a little of that macro lens fund to just give these a try and see if you can't go spend that extra money saved up on a hot date, camera geek.

The Digital Concepts 58mm Macro Filter Kit includes four close-up diopters at +1, +2, +4 and +10 magnification, and a durable carrying case. These filters simply screw onto the front of any 58mm lens, and will maintain resolution and picture clarity while magnifying image size. Plus, these filters are double-threaded, which means you can combine them to achieve increased magnification, or you can attach additional optics such as polarizers or skylight filters. These macro filters are ideal for photographing small items and focusing in on details of coins, flowers, jewelry and insects, as well as industrial photos of miniaturized components, medical and dental laboratory work and other scientific photography.

I had this flash for a Sony and now for my Nikon D300. I also have a SB-600 flash unit which is of course way better, but also way expensive - I guess nobody here should expect the same quality for 1/4 of the price.
The build is overall cheap but okay for the price, it will last a while when you take care of it. The major downside is that it's not really a TTL flash. The title says something about "automatic", I'm really unsure what they mean with that. Fact is, it produces a strong flash, you can swivel the head (even at the wall behind you) but it doesn't communicate with the camera. You can still use it on-camera though, but it's more like a manual flash gun, so operating the camera in auto-mode will most likely produce an overexposed photo. If you're unsure if you should buy it... it's an okay budget flash which will give you more options than the popup-flash, but if you're more like the I-use-my-SLR-only-in-auto-mode guy than better invest $100+ in a TTL flash which will get more information from and to the camera than: Fire flash now!
But here's the deal: Buy a remote FM-trigger (I use the "CowboyStudio NPT-04 4 Channel Wireless Hot Shoe Flash Trigger Receiver for Canon EOS, Nikon, Olympus & Pentax Flashes Other products by cowboystudio") and use this flash as an off-camera remote unit. Again, manual mode operation of your camera is recommended, but you can achieve great results with this off-camera set for $70 (flash + trigger). Combine it with a lighting stand, camera bracket and umbrella, and you have a portable studio lighting set for about $100-$130. This flash does even fit better on the remote trigger than my SB-600 because it has a screw-ring (not shown in the product picture) to tighten it to the flash-shoe-mount.

WOW, I waited for this camera to become available and then when it did and went onsale, I swooped in and ordered one that day. It arrived basically the next day.
I bought this for the Zoom and view finder, the view finder is essential in sunny days. This replaced a Nikon L110 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 15x Optical
My Previous Cameras were a Konica Minolta 4 MB (Still takes great pics after all the abuse, I use it as a backup, my 5 year old uses it) and the Nikon L110 (Nikon zoom broke on me within a year and needed to be replaced)
The photos that this takes exceeded my Nikon L110 by alot. the zoom is great and the stabilization is fantastic. I am able to take the zoom shots and still crop a portion of the pic without losing any detailsI have not fully used all the features, the Panaramic is really nice and the pics are high MP... the pictures tend to be about 3 MB
I have taken this to the Philly Zoo to fully test the shooting, Under all instances, bright, indoor, shady - camera preformed better than my previous camera
I also take soccer pics and it has preformed great... I have challenenged myself to take one great pic a day... So far I have taken a picture of the Lightning (with the multishot feature) the moon just before dark, clouds, rainbows... and namy others... I am excited about taking photos with this camera because it gets the details
I have recommended this to several people who have also bought it. You can't beat the features for the price.... A Pure winner

This is a great camera even if Ken Rockwell doesn't really recommend it. I am a previous D200 owner, but I am very fond of this D300s. I still have much experimenting to do with this. I love my custom setup with vivid colors for landscapes and jewelry but I'm always forgetting to re-set it to normal when I'm taking people pictures. I haven't used the video as much as I want to. One draw back I couldn't edit the video with my Sony Vegas movie editing software, although I may have an earlier version of the software. Has anyone been able to do that?
The 18-200mm is the best Nikon lens made. Extremely versatile and may be the only lens you'll ever need. I love the new locking system.

A friend of ours bought us this camera bag for Christmas, and it was a perfect gift for me. I just got a Canon T1i and it fits in the bag perfectly. The Velcro adjustable partitions on the inside allow for snug storage of the camera. I even throw all my point and point and accessories inside of the bag as well because there is so much room. The bag is a very heavy duty canvass type material that seems like it will hold up well to the elements over time.
